Sula Blue had a great start to the season, coming 3rd in the AI at gatcombe and then completing the very tough 3* at Belton Park in a top 3rd placing in the section against some very good horses before he went away for his stud break, his first foal has made an amazing start to her eventing career with a top 10 placing in her first 2 comps and then winning her 3rd finishing on her dressage score of 21 with a super double clear
January 2015........ both the boys attended the stallion parade at Hartpury, sadly Sula Blue had suffered a bruised sole during the week and was not allowed to jump, real shame as its what he loves to do the most but it gave him a chance to show some of the flatwork he has been working on over the winter in his lessons with Adam Kemp in preperation for going 3* this year,
Update at the parade was a total star with so much going on, he has never been anywhere quite so busy but took it all in his stride, very proud day seeing 2 of his talented children parade (one with him) and a grandchild that looks to have a very exciting future
Both the boys will be attending the B&W Stallion parade at West Wilts EC on 14-2-2015, it is run by one of our collection centers so all the staff will be on hand to answer all your breeding questions
Busy end to January, both the boys have had there swabs and are clear and ready for the season, the Sula Blue babies have been weaned, taking it very well and will be available for sale in the spring
we were so proud of Jet (Out of the Blue) she was so grown up about everything, she loaded, traveled, tied to the lorry and took all the busy warm ups in her stride, she gained a 6th place with 66% with some great comments and a few things to work on, we are now working on her jumping in prep for her BE debut, she loves the fences just like her sire
Exciting news!! have just heard that Sula Blues first foal of the year has just arrived, a stunning black filly, the owners are thrilled with their new arrival, hopefully i will have pics to share soon
slight change of plan to the start of Sula Blues season, we were going to start at Gatcombe in 2 weeks but before that we are now taking him to Aldon next weekend for a schooling run in the open novice, he will then be busy with his stud duties throughout April although we may squeeze in a run at Weston Park if the ladies timetables allow, if anyone would like to meet him whilst we are at an event please do message me as we are happy to arrange this
very sadly Gatcombe has been abandoned due to bad weather causing the ground to be unsuitable, we are very sorry he wont be there as we had a lot of people wanting to come and meet him, we are looking for an alternative but he will need to work around the ladies for the next few weeks
Gatcombe was re routed to Somerley Park, we had quite testing conditions having to be both towed in and out of the lorry park, dispite this we gave it our best shot getting a respectable 28 dressage, unluckily rolled a pole SJ but a good clear XC in a fast time saw us finish in 6th place, big pat for the boy after trying so hard in a very sticky dressage arena
the mares seem to be holding onto their precious loads this year, we have lots we are waiting for an appearance from, but this morning and a little before her due date we would like to welcome to the world a special lady, the first coloured baby by Sula Blue, we think you will agree she is just beautiful
pics of her outside for the first time, she is already big, beautiful and brave, mum is a daughter of the great 4* mare Welton Romance and Advanced eventer Primorres Pioneer (full brother of the 4* Primorres Pride, Pippa Funnell's olympic horse) who is out of another great 4* mare Pimorre Hill and by the amazing Mayhill, event breeding doesnt get any better than that!! feeling so blessed to have her here and so perfect!!
the eldest of Sula Blues babies has been doing amazing as she starts her ridden career, a few weeks ago she made her dressage debut winning both the prelims and today she won again at an eventer challenge competition flying all the XC fences and being in the lead from start to finish on a great dressage score of 27
We also have a very exciting future stallion prospect here at Nuppend Stud, he is a 3yr old full TB who has been homebred from one of our foundation mares, by a TB Sire who is graded with sports horse GB, his name is Darley and he will be aimed at an eventing career so watch out for him next year in british eventing young horse classes
